Homemade Syrup

1 c. brown sugar (packed)
1 c. white sugar
1 c. water
1/2 t. maple flavoring

Add all ingredients into a pan. Slowly bring to a boil and boil for one minute while constantly stirring. Serve on fresh pancakes, waffles, french toast, etc. Yields: Approx. 2 c. syrup.

Price Guesstimate: $1?

Steph's Comments: I warn you, once you start using homemade syrup you're going to have a tough time going back to the store stuff. This syrup stores really well in the fridge, and all you have to do is re-heat it in the microwave and it tastes just as good as fresh-off-the-stove. For a long time I've been wanting to play around with adding some butter flavoring to it, but I haven't yet - once I do I'll let you know how it works out!

  2. We make our own syrup, too! At least that way I know exactly what is in it.
